BlueBoxt Creative and Performing Arts is a voluntary-run charity based in Wensleydale, North Yorkshire.
We provide opportunities for children, young people, and the wider community to create, perform, and grow through the arts.

What We Offer

We start our autumn fundraising with an afternoon concert on Sunday 20th September,

2.00 pm at St. Matthew’s Church, Leyburn. The event is ‘Pay What You Can Afford’

(Suggested donation £10). Tea and Cake and a bar serving Beer and Wine will be available.

As a charity, there are lots of volunteering opportunities from everyday office tasks to stewarding at events. Through the summer months up until the Jazz Festival, the brochure is distributed by a dedicated team of volunteers - it’s a big job. We distribute in Wensleydale, Coverdale, Swaledale, Wharfedale, Leyburn, Richmond, Bedale, Hawes, Harrogate, Masham, Northallerton, and Darlington. If you would like to take on responsibility for a particular town or area, we’d love to hear from you.

Discover the infectious rhythms of Latin America at our FREE, family-friendly workshop with Orchestra Mambo International. Taking place on Saturday 17 October at 10.30 am, this fun and interactive session is open to people of all ages and abilities, whether you play an instrument, love music, or simply want to try something new.

Booking is advisable.

7.00pm for a prompt 7.30 pm start. Teams of 6 or come along and make a team on the night.

Tickets £15 inc. two-course supper. Our annual quiz is always a fun event – book early to avoid disappointment!

Wensleydale Young Musician of the Year 2026

Join us for an afternoon of outstanding live music as the next generation of talented performers take to the stage at Wensleydale Young Musician of the Year 2026.

Presented by Wensleydale Rotary Club and BlueBoxt Creative and Performing Arts, this exciting annual event showcases the incredible musical talent of young people aged 7–18 from across North Yorkshire. From powerful vocal performances and accomplished solo instrumentalists to dynamic ensembles, audiences can enjoy a diverse programme of music spanning a wide range of styles and genres.

Whether you're supporting a performer, looking for an inspiring family afternoon, or simply love live music, everyone is welcome. Come along and celebrate the dedication, creativity and passion of the region's young musicians as they compete for the title of Wensleydale Young Musician of the Year.

Think you've got what it takes?

If you're a young musician aged 7–18 who lives or attends school in North Yorkshire, why not enter? The competition is open to vocalists, instrumentalists and groups, with classes for acoustic, amplified and ensemble performances. Whether it's your first competition or you're already an experienced performer, this is a fantastic opportunity to perform in front of a live audience, gain valuable experience and be part of a supportive celebration of young talent.

The event takes place on Sunday 22nd November 2026 at St. Matthew's Church, Leyburn, with doors opening at 1:30pm and performances beginning at 2:00pm.

Entries close at midnight on Tuesday 17th November 2026.

Wensleydale Community Arts Festival

The Wensleydale Community Arts Festival is Leyburn’s annual celebration of creativity, local talent, and the vibrant arts scene in our rural community. Hosted annually by Blueboxt Creative & Performing Arts, the festival brings together artists, performers, and audiences of all ages for a variety of arts-based events across Wensleydale & Swaledale.

2026 will mark our 4th year, and the festival continues to grow, featuring everything from kids’ workshops and concerts to film showings, evening music performances, and variety shows. You’ll find events happening all over Wensleydale.

In addition to performances and exhibitions, the festival includes makers’ markets, live arts demonstrations, and activity days for children, offering opportunities for the whole community to get involved.
